Matt & Elaine Bonowitz of Staten Island, New York are the creators
of POLKA TODAY!, a high-energy blend of country, swing, and ballroom
dance steps combined with the polka.
They are five-time polka dance champions, performers,
choreographers and dance teachers.
They travel across the country performing and promoting polka
dancing having performed in venues from New York to Las Vegas, Canada to
the Caribbean, they have made numerous television appearances including
America’s Got Talent on NBC, The Rachael Ray Show on ABC, Good Day New
York on FOX, the National I-POD commercial and are the featured dancers
on the weekly Jimmy Sturr Show on RFD-TV. The Jimmy Sturr TV Show has
been rated #1 show of its category on Dish Network and Direct TV. Matt &
Elaine just released an instructional dance DVD entitled “Let’s All

Having been raised in polka dancing families, Matt & Elaine
have a natural flair for dance and love of polka dancing.
They each began dancing about the time they started to walk,
traveling in the same circles as they grew up, but not meeting until
2000 when they met at a polka dance at the Bayway Club in
With over 25 years of Polish folk dance experience and continuing ballroom dance training, Matt & Elaine bring polka dancing to new levels with their own unique style of hi-energy dancing. Their creativity is bringing the polka from folk dancing and modernizing it up to date to today’s style of dancing where it can stand alongside country, swing, latin and ballroom dancing.
